The Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society (KAFS) Crisis Response, Community Led (CRCL) is a newly launched program that provides an alternative to police presence at mental health crisis calls in Kamloops. The team offers crisis support services integrating cultural safety protocols and holistic care. The mobile team consists of mental health professionals and peers, available during scheduled hours, aiming to reduce harm for individuals with mental health and addictions challenges, as well as Black, Indigenous, racialized, LGBTQ2+ and other marginalized individuals. The CRCL Coordinator is crucial for supporting day-to-day service delivery, ensuring strong and consistent operations, and assisting with shift coordination, staff guidance, documentation quality, and communication between frontline staff and leadership. The role includes an initial training period of approximately 120 hours, completed within the first three months of employment.
