About The Position

Electric Machinery Company, a division of WEG Electric Corp., is seeking a Crater/Assembler for their Assembly Team in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This role is responsible for the preparation and packaging of equipment and parts for shipment and long-term storage. Key tasks include designing and constructing skids, crates, and boxes to specified dimensions, as well as wrapping, sealing, packing, and anchoring items. The position requires careful adherence to shipping instructions, packing specifications, and dimension drawings. The individual will also be involved in inventorying parts, preparing necessary quality and customer documentation, maintaining shipping material inventory, and actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives. All work must comply with quality standards and OSHA/EPA Regulations. The role requires the use of various power and hand tools, as well as an aptitude for using computers for shipping information.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knows how to use both power and hand tools that are necessary to do the work.
  • Must show aptitude to utilize computers for shipping information.
  • Must be able to work as a team member.
  • Must have basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions).

Responsibilities

  • Makes skids, crates and boxes to required dimensions and wraps, seals, packs and anchors equipment and parts for shipment.
  • Reads shipping instructions, packing specifications, dimension drawings and other information covering preparation, handling and transportation of equipment, accessories and parts.
  • Does necessary design and layout, makes skids, crates and boxes to process specifications.
  • Wraps, seals, packs and braces large and small machines, parts and accessories for shipment, domestic and export.
  • Prepares machines and other equipment for long term storage.
  • Makes and uses stencils for export boxes.
  • Inventories and inspects parts for shipment from invoice or packing list.
  • Does necessary bracing, anchoring, wrapping and covering in loading railroad cars.
  • Uses Instapak Foam Packaging System in preparing small parts or subassemblies for shipment.
  • Fills out and dates all quality and customer documentation required in the shipping department.
  • Maintains inventory of materials used in shipping department.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvements.
  • Requires minimum supervision.
  • Quality Standards and abides to OSHA and EPA Regulations.
