About The Position

Pacific Rail Services is seeking full-time Lift Operators for their Union Pacific Avondale, LA Terminal. This is a permanent, full-time position with a starting rate of $18-$20 per hour, based on experience, and offers opportunities for advancement. The facility operates 24/7/365. The Lift Equipment Operator is responsible for managing overhead and/or side loading lift equipment to load and unload containers, chassis, and trailers onto and off railroad cars.

Requirements

Prior experience required.
Valid Driver's License.
Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry (vocational education, apprenticeship, on-the-job training, or similar work experience).
Ability to pass a 7-year background check (no felonies in the last 7 years, no jail time in the last 5 years).
Ability to pass a hair follicle drug test.
Ability to pass an IPCS Physical Capabilities Test.

Responsibilities

Operate overhead or side loader crane for loading and unloading containers and trailers to railcars.
Lock and unlock container chassis, trailer hitches, IBC’s, and bolsters.
Perform daily pre-inspections of equipment (tires, oil, hydraulics, lights, radio, damage, camera) and safety equipment (fire extinguisher).
Activate work assignments using the on-board computer system.
Maintain a safe and injury-free work environment by being aware of surroundings and following all processes.
Accurately verify container, chassis, and trailer numbers.
Ensure clear communication with Ground Person and/or other personnel.
Comply with HAZMAT and OSHA Regulations.
Perform special tasks as requested by management and/or supervisor.
Provide hostling and ground person activities as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
