About The Position

This remote, rotational position is based in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week: 40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half. Worley provides meals and lodging while employees are on location, as well as transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay. The Crane Operator operates a range of crane equipment, including boom trucks, rough-terrain cranes, truck cranes, crawler cranes, derricks, and side booms. Equipment may include Manitowoc, Link Belt, Grove, and National cranes. The operator inspects equipment and lifting gear, coordinates lifts, maintains operating records, identifies and reports faulty equipment, and follows applicable safety, client, company, and regulatory requirements. Work takes place in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources, very cold temperatures, and possible delays in medical evacuation due to weather. The role involves prolonged standing and driving, climbing, working at heights, using fall protection, and meeting specified lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling demands. Company vehicles are equipped with in-cab cameras and vehicle monitoring systems that may record video and audio and collect GPS and driving-behavior data, which management may review. Requirements

NCCCO certification for Crane Operator with TLL certification.
Valid Class A CDL and ability to be covered by Worley’s auto insurer.
At least two years of experience operating at least one of the following: boom trucks, rough-terrain cranes, pedestal cranes, truck cranes, crawler cranes, tower cranes, derricks, or side booms.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) certification; Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.
Knowledge of computerized components in various types of machinery.
Knowledge of the operation, purpose, capabilities, and limitations of equipment the candidate is qualified to operate.
Knowledge of safe equipment operation and equipment maintenance.
Ability to read and understand job descriptions, safety and technical manuals, procedures, permits, JSAs, PTSP cards, and safety and warning signs.
Sufficient oral communication skills to give and receive emergency instructions, safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments.
Ability to understand equipment gauges and their readings.
Ability to read, interpret, or use capacity charts, rigging diagrams, common hand signals, grade stakes, and other applicable drawings.
Ability to demonstrate safe use of accessories within the range of each piece of equipment operated.
Ability to stand, walk on level, uneven, and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach at low and high ranges, work overhead, and maintain normal balance and coordination, including while wearing Arctic gear.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods and drive for prolonged periods in darkness and inclement weather.
Ability to climb scaffolds, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.
Ability to wear and use fall protection in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist and from floor to shoulder with two hands; carry 50 pounds for 15 feet; push or pull a 60-pound sled for 20 feet; and push or pull a 90-pound cart for 20 feet.
Understanding that the remote worksite is approximately 840 miles, or at least four hours by air ambulance, from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and that weather may significantly delay evacuation.

Nice To Haves

Hazmat endorsement.
Three years of lattice boom crane experience.
Petrochemical, oilfield, or Arctic experience.
Five years of experience operating various types of cranes in multiple weather conditions.
One year of experience in or knowledge of the Prudhoe Bay, Kuparuk, and Alpine oilfields.

Responsibilities

Operate various crane equipment, including boom trucks, rough-terrain cranes, truck cranes, crawler cranes, derricks, and side booms.
Ensure lifting equipment is inspected and complies with OSHA requirements and Hilcorp policy.
Develop and coordinate lifts with the area authority and foreman.
Pre-check and inspect equipment before operation, including relevant chassis components, fluids, tires, tracks, and moving parts.
Review equipment operation logs for maintenance history and record pre-operation notes for the equipment being operated.
Notify foremen about faulty equipment and red-tag it so it cannot be operated until repaired and declared safe by a mechanic and inspected by a foreman.
Attend required training sessions and toolbox equipment and safety meetings.
Ensure the crane has daily, monthly, and annual certifications.
Follow company, client, safety, and regulatory requirements applicable to the position and duties.
