About The Position

Joyce Steel Erection, Ltd., a part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings (backed by Berkshire Hathaway), is seeking a temporary crane operator for outage work. This role involves operating a crane under complete control and supervision, ensuring the safety of the crane and all involved through routine inspections, and performing routine maintenance. The position also includes understanding and executing the job billing process, traveling the crane to and from job sites, and wearing required personal protective equipment. Operators will utilize manufacturer recommendations during assembly, disassembly, and operation, and will direct truck drivers and crane helpers during various stages of the work. Additionally, there is an opportunity to mentor other crane operators and helpers.

Requirements

  • Minimum Class A CDL driver's license and maintain it
  • Possess a N.C.C.C.O. Crane Operator Certification Card for size and type of crane operating
  • Possess Crane Operator Qualification Evaluations on all types of size and type of cranes operating
  • Necessary knowledge of OSHA regulations, and ANSI standards associated with crane and rigging services
  • Proficient in oral and written communication skills
  • Have passed pre-employment drug and alcohol screen, DOT physical, and 7-year background check
  • Able to take direction(s) from supervision
  • Able to mentor other crane operators, crane helpers, etc.
  • Clean driving record

Responsibilities

  • Operating crane under complete control
  • Operating crane under supervision
  • Inspecting the crane and all of its components and below the hook lifting devices routinely and periodically to ensure its safety and the safety of all involved
  • Performing routine maintenance
  • Carrying tools for performing repairs as needed
  • Understanding and executing the job billing process
  • Travelling the crane to and from job sites
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment while performing work
  • Cleaning and maintaining the crane and all components
  • Utilizing manufacturers recommendations during assembly/disassembly while erecting crane, and while operating the crane in all configurations
  • Directing truck drivers and crane helpers during the process of assembly/disassembly, crane set up, and scope of work
  • Mentoring other crane operators, crane helpers, etc.
  • Performing daily and monthly equipment inspections
  • Following all safety and company policies and procedures as well as that of customers
  • Driving haul truck and delivering loads
  • Maintaining logbook and hours
