The Maryland Port Administration (MPA) is a 203-employee transportation business unit within the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and is the public face of the Port of Baltimore. MPA was created by the Maryland General Assembly to increase waterborne commerce through the ports in the state. For information on the MPA, please go to: MPA General Role Description: MPA is seeking a motivated, positive, and driven Electro-Mechanical Crane Technician III for the Crane and Fleet Division. The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain, inspect and repair any crane and Passenger Boarding Bridge at the Maryland Port Administration's facilities. The position is also responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance to all unique electrical, electronic, computer, and mechanical components of the container, portal, and whirley cranes. The position also serves as a crew leader over a group of MPA Electro-Mechanical Crane Technicians, Crane Electricians, and Crane Mechanics. This position also provides oversight to crane operations in order to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems and to minimize downtime. Regularly the position is required to perform pier duty, monitor operations breakdowns in order to diagnose problems and make repairs to the port cranes.
