About The Position

Apply to be a proud employee of the Pinellas County Construction and Property Management Division team as an Craftworker within the Facility Operations Division. Facility Operations provides professional in-house and contracted services to maintain and operate County buildings. Pinellas County's Facility Management division Southeast South section maintains the St. Petersburg Justice Center and an additional 16 unique locations. This position performs Asset Management activities, inclusive of but not limited to skilled work in the installation, alteration, repair and maintenance of building systems and equipment. This includes plumbing, mechanical, appliance repair, locksmithing, and minor electrical (lighting components, switches and fuses), drywall repair and replacement and painting. The employee in this position may be required to occasionally act as a lead over one or more helpers or peers as needed and on projects/task assignments.

Requirements

  • 2 years of skilled craft or trade experience in the installation, alteration, repair and maintenance of building systems, inclusive of plumbing/mechanical and minor electrical (lighting components, switches, and fuses); or Completion of a skilled trades vocational or technical school program with a diploma or certification and 1 year of experience in the installation, alteration, repair and maintenance of building systems, subsystems and associated components, inclusive of plumbing/mechanical and minor electrical (lighting components, switches, and fuses; or An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Florida Driver's License
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair building systems utilizing blueprints, schematics, industry standards, and standard tools/equipment.
  • Must possess the Spirit of Teamwork.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Locksmithing and door repair experience.
  • Basic plumbing, electrical, renovation skills or HVAC are highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled work with installation, maintenance, diagnostic, and repair of commercial building systems.
  • Perform the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing and mechanical systems within large facilities.
  • Utilize a computer based asset management/maintenance management system, Cityworks.
  • Make minor to complex repairs to electrical and manual locking systems, switches, circuit breakers and lock and door equipment in buildings.
  • Are familiar with construction standards and processes.
  • Communicate the status of work assignments.
  • Manage your time card and work assignments using a computer-based programs.
  • Assist mechanics in operation, maintenance and repair of heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment.
  • Repair pipes and valves up to 4-inch in size.
  • Use standard plumbing tools for drain maintenance and repairs.
  • Understand the relevance of maintenance materials, supplies, and inventory necessary for the performance of work assignments and projects.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and equipment diagrams.
  • Performs related work as assigned, or required.
