This position is open to current City of Springfield employees only. The City of Springfield Public Works department is seeking an independent, self-motivated, hard-working individual to join our team as a Craftsworker. This position is responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled craftswork in the construction, maintenance, and/or repair of various city roadways and sidewalks. About our Public Works Department: Mission Statement Public Works constructs and maintains the infrastructure of the City to satisfy community needs by providing engineering services, a safe transportation system, effective stormwater management, and public buildings and grounds. Responsibilities & Services The Department of Public Works is an accredited agency by the American Public Works Association. Public Works is responsible for street design, construction, and maintenance. It has also partnered with the Missouri Department of Transportation to implement a cooperative computerized traffic signal system to improve Springfield's street capacity. Community Services Designs, builds, and maintains city streets and sidewalks, and stormwater system Maintains public right-of-way and Hazelwood Cemetery.
