About The Position

Responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, calibrations and preventive maintenance of refinery analyzer equipment such as Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), field mounted H2S and LEL Sensors, pH analyzers, O2 analyzers, H2S fuel gas analyzers, and laser detection technology. Plans and coordinates work following appropriate work orders, work permits, and safety instructions. Demonstrates ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, and wiring schematics. Plans and lays out work from Instrument/Electrical/Analyzer drawings (wiring diagrams, loops, datasheets, piping and instrumentation diagrams, etc.) or other written specifications. Takes ownership of assigned field problems and sees them to completion. Takes lead/initiative in contacting outside vendors and tech support in order to troubleshoot problems and see them to completion. Uses trend data (PHD, Uniformance, DAAS, etc…) from analyzers and other operational field equipment to determine root cause of abnormal readings. Follows and enforces all local safety, environmental and emergency rules and regulations, wears safety equipment as required. Performs work activities in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Uses hand/power tools and specialized measuring and testing instruments. Operates heavy equipment (forklift, manlift, scissor lift, trucks, etc.). Other duties may be assigned as directed by Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, and/or Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with refinery operational, analyzer or instrumentation equipment required
  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Wilmington Refinery, required
  • Must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or higher in instrumentation, computers or electronics preferred
  • Refinery experience preferred
