About The Position

The Craft Training Lead will be responsible for delivering NCCER craft training and evaluation, supporting registered apprenticeship programs, and providing compliance support for prevailing-wage and apprenticeship requirements. This role involves administering training programs, maintaining accurate records, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The position requires a strong understanding of NCCER curricula and apprenticeship systems, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Experience delivering NCCER craft training and evaluation.
  • Proficiency in preparing lesson plans, training materials, demonstrations, exercises, and hands-on learning activities.
  • Experience conducting NCCER module testing as an approved Module Test Proctor.
  • Experience conducting hands-on performance profiles as an approved Curriculum Performance Evaluator.
  • Ability to verify trainee identity, NCCER numbers, assigned curriculum, testing eligibility, and required prerequisites.
  • Knowledge of maintaining the security and integrity of NCCER tests and testing materials.
  • Experience recording and validating module completions, test results, and performance evaluations in NCCER systems.
  • Ability to evaluate trainee progress and provide coaching, remediation, and retesting support.
  • Skill in coordinating training schedules with project management, operations, safety, payroll, human resources, and craft supervision.
  • Experience maintaining accurate instructor, proctor, and evaluator qualification records.
  • Ability to assist with periodic reviews of instructors, evaluators, trainee records, and module completions.
  • Experience supporting corrective-action activities related to NCCER training, testing, credentialing, or recordkeeping.
  • Ability to assist with the development and maintenance of training materials, job aids, presentations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of monitoring changes to NCCER curricula, systems, accreditation standards, and program procedures, and assisting with implementing updates.
  • Ability to ensure training facilities, tools, equipment, and materials are prepared and suitable for assigned curriculum and performance activities.
  • Experience assisting with the administration of Department of Labor-registered apprenticeship programs.
  • Ability to support the registration, transfer, reinstatement, cancellation, suspension, and completion of apprentices in RAPIDS or other required systems.
  • Experience preparing, collecting, and maintaining apprentice registration documents.
  • Ability to track apprentice probationary periods, wage progressions, on-the-job learning hours, related technical instruction hours, competencies, and advancement milestones.
  • Skill in reviewing apprentice records to identify missing hours, overdue evaluations, wage-step issues, and other exceptions.
  • Ability to coordinate with operations, payroll, human resources, project management, and craft supervision for apprentice information.
  • Experience maintaining apprentice rosters, status reports, wage schedules, Appendix A documents, apprenticeship standards, and project-assignment records.
  • Ability to assist with apprentice evaluations and communicate advancement requirements.
  • Experience supporting apprentice orientation and explaining program expectations.
  • Ability to help apprentices and supervisors resolve routine questions related to registration, status, training, and program participation.
  • Experience assisting with federal and state apprenticeship reviews, audits, data requests, and corrective-action activities.
  • Ability to support project intake and kickoff activities for projects subject to prevailing-wage or registered-apprenticeship requirements.
  • Experience assisting with reviewing contract requirements, applicable wage determinations, apprentice requirements, wage schedules, and project-specific compliance procedures.

  • Ability to maintain organized and audit-ready electronic files for each apprenticeship program and applicable project.
  • Skill in documenting identified discrepancies, follow-up actions, responsible parties, and final resolution.
  • Ability to escalate unresolved, high-risk, or potentially noncompliant issues.
  • Understanding of protecting confidential employee, payroll, training, and apprenticeship information.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records in NCCER, RAPIDS, Workday, spreadsheets, and other designated systems.

  • Ability to track upcoming training requirements, expiring certifications, apprentice milestones, and outstanding documentation.
  • Experience participating in internal audits, client audits, and program-quality reviews.
  • Ability to support meetings with operations, field leadership, apprentices, instructors, clients, and external program representatives.
  • Skill in maintaining effective working relationships with field employees and professional staff.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom, laboratory, training-yard, and field-based NCCER instruction in registered Appendix A occupations.
