About The Position

The Center for Regional Agriculture, Food, and Transformation (CRAFT) is seeking a Communication and Event Coordinator for a USDA-funded Local Food Promotion Program grant. This position will support the Center's internal and external communication efforts and assist with event planning and execution. CRAFT is dedicated to centering community in its pursuit of transformative regional food systems that value the people within them, envisioning an equitable food system with fairness and transparency across the value chain. This is a 15-hour per week position, totaling 225 hours for the fall 2026 and spring 2027 semesters, with a pay rate of $18/hour.

Requirements

  • Ability to self-manage time, self-start, and work independently on a time-sensitive project.
  • Comfort in data gathering, academic research, and class or resource development.
  • Organization and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • An understanding of small business ownership, value-added product creation, curriculum creation, and/or graphic design.
  • Experience in food systems, non-profit, or similar work.
  • Experience with Canva, Google Workspace, Teachable, or other design and collaboration platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in general external communication efforts for the Center by crafting newsletters, social media posts, and preparing and posting other communications efforts.
  • Manage the creation, printing, promotion, and dissemination of the Annual Report in the fall of 2026.
  • Assist in internal communications efforts by planning and hosting monthly CRAFT all-staff meetings.
  • Work with the team to plan and execute a regional value-added food business event and other food-system events, including food safety certification in the fall of 2026.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation tasks for various grants and projects.

Benefits
