About The Position

This position will support locations in Southern California including Cathedral City, Palmdale, Santa Maria, and Victorville. The CPR and AED Instructor will provide professional CPR and AED Certification classes for In-Shape team members. This role requires completing all required class documentation and submitting it in a timely manner. Out-of-town travel may be required for training and/or classes.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Ability to professionally present training material
  • Prior teaching or training experience helpful
  • CPR/AED certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct CPR/AED classes following curriculum and guidelines provided by In-Shape and ASHI.
  • Arrive for class with enough time to set up and be ready to greet students.
  • Coordinate any needed assistance with setup with the hosting Club Manager.
  • Provide 1 class each month or as needed, with an average class size limited to a maximum of 10 students (exceptions possible with high-quality instruction).
  • Follow a general ratio of a maximum of two students per manikin.
  • Class time generally ranges from two to four hours.
  • Provide proficiency testing, including written exams and practical evaluations.
  • Assist students who fail initial evaluation until they are proficient or alternate learning methods are exhausted.
  • Collect and submit class evaluation forms from each student.
  • Issue certification cards to students who have successfully demonstrated proficient skills and knowledge.
  • Forward all class documentation to the Sr. Manager of Health & Safety by the 1st and 15th of each month.
  • Securely store class equipment/supplies.
  • Complete and maintain ASHI CPR and AED Instructor Certification.
  • Complete guideline updates as needed.
  • Refresh knowledge and skills as needed to provide professional instruction.
  • Provide Sr. Manager of Health & Safety with availability for classes (schedules are usually set quarterly).
  • Check regularly for correspondence from the Sr. Manager of Health & Safety.
  • Notify Sr. Manager of Health & Safety and host club immediately in an emergency situation where you are unable to instruct a scheduled class or find a replacement instructor.
  • Maintain a supply of training supplies and equipment, including CPR Cards, Student Handbooks, gloves, etc.
  • Notify Sr. Manager of Health & Safety when low on supplies or if replacement equipment is needed (allow minimum two weeks for order and delivery).
  • Maintain clean and sanitary equipment.
