The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is seeking a CPI Investigation Worker Trainee After Hours Response. This role involves investigating claims of child abuse and neglect, determining if abuse or neglect occurred, assessing current or future risk of harm to children, and recommending services. CPI investigators work 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The trainee will conduct forensic investigations, observe children for signs of harm, interview relevant parties, assess child safety, and take necessary actions to protect children. This includes potentially removing a child from their family, working with families to identify support systems, testifying in court, and placing children in substitute care. The role requires documenting all gathered information accurately and in a timely manner, gathering family and kinship information for potential placements, and participating in a regular on-call rotation for after-hours response. The investigator will also develop and maintain effective working relationships with various professionals, work under constant deadlines, maintain objectivity and empathy, attend training, and promote cultural diversity. The position is in a mobile unit, requiring independent work with technology while remaining responsive to supervision.
