CPE Certified Diplomate Supervisor and BCC Chaplain
About The Position
This role is responsible for developing, organizing, and conducting CPSP-accredited CPE Units. The position involves providing individual CPE supervision for CPE Chaplain Associate Residents, facilitating group seminars (including didactic sessions, case reviews, project reviews, and interpersonal relational groups), and evaluating resident performance and competency. The supervisor ensures the program complies with CPSP standards, policies, and procedures, and assists in recruiting, screening, and interviewing applicants. Record-keeping for resident evaluations is crucial, with reports maintained for five years. The role also includes developing a Pastoral Care Advisory Committee, assisting with budget stipends for residents, serving as a liaison between community clergy and the hospital, and assisting with departmental budget preparation. The supervisor is a member of the Ethics Committee, facilitates Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, and develops resources for staff education on pastoral care. Daily operational tasks, departmental representation at events, and maintaining a clinical pastoral presence through rounding and providing care are key responsibilities. Collaboration with interdisciplinary staff, crisis intervention for staff and community, providing religious sacraments, and serving as a contact for all FirstHealth entities are also part of the role. The position involves responding to Rapid Response Team or Code Blue announcements and assisting in ensuring 24/7/365 pastoral care coverage. Hosting the Pinehurst CPSP chapter, assisting with recognition events, developing leadership for worship, and aiding with Chaplain Associate Orientation are expected. The supervisor will also assist FHC Administration with leadership projects and provide consultation to the Ethics Committee Chairperson. Recording pastoral care visits, maintaining records and statistics, and coordinating revisions of position descriptions, manual updates, and marketing materials are required. Monitoring staff/clergy access to patient information is also a responsibility.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college and divinity school or seminary.
- Master of Divinity preferred.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Certification or eligibility as a Diplomate in Pastoral Supervision with the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP), Inc.
- Board-Certification as a Chaplain with a national professional pastoral care certification program or eligibility required.

Responsibilities
- Develop, organize, and conduct CPSP-accredited CPE Units.
- Provide individual CPE supervision for each CPE Chaplain Associate Resident.
- Facilitate group seminars, including didactic sessions, case review conferences, project reviews, and interpersonal relational group sessions (IPR).
- Evaluate FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital CPE Resident performance and competency to provide pastoral presence and support effectively.
- Produce and provide regular written evaluation of CPE Chaplain Associate Resident’s performance and adjustment to the clinical method of learning, according to the Standards of CPSP.
- Ensure the FirstHealth CPSP CPE program complies with the CPSP standards, policies, and procedures.
- Recruit, screen, and interview applicants for the CPSP CPE program with assistance from the Department Pastoral Care Manager.
- Maintain accurate FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital CPSP CPE Resident records in accordance with CPSP requirements.
- Develop a Department of Pastoral Care Advisory Committee.
- Assist the Department Pastoral Care Manager in developing and maintaining the budget stipends for the FirstHealth Clinical Pastoral Education Residents.
- Serve as a liaison between community clergy and the hospital.
- Assist the Pastoral Care Manager in preparing the annual Operating and Capital Budgets.
- Serve as a member of the FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Ethics Committee.
- Facilitate Critical Incident Stress Debriefing as requested.
- Develop resources and methods for staff education on the benefits of pastoral care for patients, family members, and staff.
- Receive and complete daily departmental operational tasks as assigned.
- Provide Departmental representation for corporate events when the Pastoral Care Manager is unavailable.
- Maintain a clinical pastoral presence by rounding and providing pastoral care to patients, families, and staff, modeling professional chaplaincy.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary staff to integrate pastoral care into the patient treatment plan.
- Assist the Pastoral Care Manager and FirstHealth Well-being Director in providing crisis intervention for staff and community as requested.
- Provide religious sacraments as requested.
- Serve as a Department of Pastoral Care contact for all FirstHealth entities.

- Assist the Pastoral Care Manager in ensuring 24/7/365 coverage for pastoral care needs.
- Host the Pinehurst CPSP chapter as requested.
- Assist the Department Pastoral Care Manager with departmental health-care effectiveness activities by developing and conducting Chaplain Associate recognition events.
- Assist in developing leadership for worship events.
- Assist with Chaplain Associate Orientation.
- Assist FHC Administration with needed leadership projects as requested.
- Assist the Chairperson of the Hospital Ethics Committee with consultation.
- Record pastoral care visits as directed.
- Ensure the maintenance of appropriate Department of Pastoral Care records and statistics.
- Coordinate position description revisions, manual updates, and marketing/educational materials.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate staff/clergy access to patient information.
