Provides support for patients with resupplying DME for CPAP program and assisting respiratory therapist when needed with setups. Provides insurance precertifications for DME.

Responsibilities

• Verifies insurance for CPAP supplies and DME when needed.
• Takes care of patients in need of CPAP supplies, drop ships supplies to patients.
• Assists in CPAP setups when needed.
• Serves as a communication liaison between patients and physicians.
• Assists in Quality Improvement activities as they relate to the CPAP program.
• Maintains familiarity with DME equipment and technical training in the use of equipment pertinent to area.
• Assists coordinator with direct patient care in the Sleep Center, which includes assessment, problem identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• When assisting coordinator, follows physicians written and verbal orders which may include CPAP, bilevel, and heated humidification therapy in a safe and timely manner.
• Implements and documents patient/family teaching as part of the plan of care.
• Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury- accident to Coordinator.
• Assists coordinator with inventories of DME supplies.
