About The Position

Hy-Vee is seeking a Courtesy Clerk to provide customer service and help keep the store clean, stocked, and welcoming. Courtesy Clerks package purchases, assist customers with transporting items, bring in carts, maintain store areas, stock and organize merchandise, and support other departments as needed. The role involves staying active throughout the store and surrounding exterior areas and working collaboratively to ensure customer satisfaction. Training is provided; no education or prior experience is required. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
No education or experience requirements; training is provided.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and provide prompt, friendly service.
Package customer purchases and assist customers in transporting them to their mode of transportation.
Bring carts in from the parking lot and cart corrals throughout the shift.
Clean registers, restrooms, the break room, and the backroom; sweep and mop floors as needed.
Clean the can redemption area and empty recycling bins where applicable.
Stock, face, and rotate merchandise; clean shelves; understand shelf tags; and know where merchandise is located in the store and backroom.
Pull products forward on shelves to maintain a full, organized appearance.
Check product prices as needed.
Maintain front-end supplies, including paper and plastic bags and receipt paper.
Help train new courtesy clerks.
Deliver products to customers and assist in all departments as requested within wage and hour guidelines.
Shovel, salt, and sand walkways as needed.
Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Maintain personal hygiene and dress standards and follow Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
