About The Position

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags groceries at checkout, assists customers with merchandise and loading bags into their cars, and supports store upkeep through shelf conditioning, returning merchandise, collecting carts, cleaning, and handling seasonal merchandise. The role also includes answering customer questions, communicating grocery specials, conducting price checks, following food safety and safety procedures, and reporting unsafe conditions or equipment needing repair. The associate must comply with applicable laws and company guidelines and provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, aiming for at least five items per bag while preventing damage and following best practices for reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing customers' merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning.
Inform customers of grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
Clean areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Learn the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions or incidents, and notify store management.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance needs and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Answer customer questions about products in the department and throughout the store, helping customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
