The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags groceries at checkout, supports customers with merchandise and carts, maintains store cleanliness and safety, and assists customers with product questions and locating items. The role requires working cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment and performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, aiming for at least five items per bag while ensuring items are not damaged.
Use best practices when bagging items in reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist in removing customers' merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning.
Inform customers of grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
Clean all areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Understand the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notifying store management.
Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Help customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively, and follow directions or seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
