About The Position

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return, while demonstrating the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety of others. The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags groceries at checkout, helps customers with merchandise and loading bags into their cars, and supports store upkeep through shelf conditioning, returning merchandise, gathering carts, cleaning, and handling seasonal merchandise. The role also helps customers locate products, informs them of grocery specials, and conducts price checks for cashiers. Associates reinforce safety and food safety practices, inspect equipment, follow applicable laws and company guidelines, and assist customers—including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, aiming for at least five items per bag while preventing damage to items.
Follow best practices for bagging items in reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing customers' merchandise from the bottom of the bascart at checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning.
Inform customers of grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
Clean all areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Learn the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notifying store management.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products in the department and throughout the store.
Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
Handle customer and business information with honesty and integrity.
Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
