About The Position

The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Responsibilities include bagging groceries carefully, assisting customers with their purchases and vehicle loading, maintaining store and parking-lot cleanliness, supporting shelf and seasonal merchandise upkeep, and helping customers and cashiers locate products and verify prices. The position also requires following food-safety, workplace-safety, legal, and company requirements; working cooperatively in a fast-paced environment; and providing courteous assistance to customers, including minors, people with special needs, and older adults. Responsibilities

Bag customers’ groceries at checkout, striving to place at least five items in each bag while preventing damage.
Follow best practices when bagging items in reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing merchandise from the bottom of customers’ carts for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their vehicles.
Perform basic shelf conditioning.
Inform customers about grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather shopping carts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
Clean areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Learn the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions, accidents, and other issues to store management.
Follow food-safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and report items needing repair to the appropriate department or store manager.
Help customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and throughout the store.
Follow applicable local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict reasonably, cooperatively, and without confrontation.
Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity.
