About The Position

The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags customers’ groceries at checkout, handles merchandise carefully, and follows best practices for reusable, plastic, and paper bags. The role also involves assisting customers with merchandise and loading bags into their cars; maintaining shelves and store cleanliness; returning merchandise and gathering carts; handling seasonal merchandise; informing customers about specials; and helping cashiers locate products and conduct price checks. The associate reinforces safety programs, follows food-safety regulations and applicable laws and company guidelines, inspects equipment and reports repair needs, and helps customers feel welcome by answering questions. The position requires cooperative work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment, reasonable and nonconfrontational conflict management, honesty with customer and business information, and the ability to follow directions and seek assistance when needed. The associate also provides direct support to minors, people with special needs, and older adults. Essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, striving to place at least five items in each bag while ensuring items are not damaged.
Follow best practices for bagging items in reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing customers’ merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning and return merchandise to store shelves.
Inform customers of grocery specials.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills, collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot, and clean all areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Understand the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Answer customer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
Follow applicable local, state, and federal laws, as well as company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment and manage conflict reasonably and nonconfrontationally.
Handle customer and business information with honesty and integrity.
Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
