About The Position

The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags groceries, assists customers with their purchases, maintains store and parking-lot cleanliness, returns merchandise, gathers carts, and supports safe store operations. The role also involves helping customers locate products, answering questions, and providing support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, aiming for at least five items per bag while preventing damage and following best practices for reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing customers’ merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning and return merchandise to store shelves.
Inform customers of grocery specials.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills, collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot, and clean areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Understand the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Help customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and throughout the store.
Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment, manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively, act honestly and with integrity, and follow directions while seeking assistance when needed.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
