About The Position

The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags groceries, assists customers with merchandise and loading, maintains store and parking-lot cleanliness, supports shelf conditioning and merchandise handling, and helps customers with product questions and price checks. The role also requires following safety, food-safety, legal, and company guidelines and working cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
- Bag groceries at checkout, aiming for at least five items per bag while preventing damage to items.
- Follow best practices for bagging items in reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
- Assist in removing customers’ merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
- Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
- Perform basic shelf conditioning.
- Inform customers of grocery specials.
- Return merchandise to store shelves.
- Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
- Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
- Clean all areas inside and outside of the store.
- Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
- Understand the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
- Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
- Adhere to food-safety regulations and guidelines.
- Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
- Help customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
- Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict reasonably, cooperatively, and without confrontation.
- Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
