The Essex Vicinage is seeking an individual with excellent analytical, customer service, and case management skills to work under the direction of the Civil Division Manager and other supervisory personnel. This position may be used to fill additional vacancies within five months of the closing date. The selected individual will be responsible for case management from docketing through disposition, analyzing, monitoring, and processing cases according to court rules, working with judges and team leaders to set priorities, creating and maintaining trial calendars, organizing work for efficiency, screening cases for dispute resolution programs, viewing cases for discovery and case management needs, monitoring compliance with deadlines and orders, responding to inquiries, conducting pre-court conferences, tracking backlog cases and statistics, and assisting with court technology needs. Exceptional customer service to diverse court users is expected. A Court Services Officer Trainee will receive on-the-job training in case management procedures and assist with case management, scheduling, trial preparation, and other related tasks. Additionally, the Trainee will prepare reports, respond to inquiries, and perform other duties as required. The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work, requiring high-speed home internet access. Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is essential.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree
  • Appointees who successfully complete the twelve-month training period will be eligible for advancement to the Court Services Officer 1 title.
  • Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
  • Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
  • Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.
  • All persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
