We welcome all candidates who are inspired by our work and mission. The Clackamas County Circuit Court is hiring a Judicial Assistant for the Honorable Jeffrey Jones (Court Operations Specialist). In this role, you will support the judge by performing data entry, updating information within the case management system, and reviewing complex files to determine next steps. You will compose letters, prepare correspondence and legal documents, and review content for accuracy, completeness, and grammar. You will schedule court dockets and appearances, manage the judge’s calendars, make travel arrangements, reserve meeting rooms, and arrange for court interpreters. You will also gather information, conduct limited research, and create formal presentation materials. You will prepare the courtroom for the day’s proceedings. When court is in session, you will operate electronic and digital recording equipment, keep a log of events, perform real-time data entry, prepare a variety of forms and judgments, and provide technical assistance. You will support pro se litigants and respond to complaints and requests for information from attorneys, litigants, agencies, and the public. Additionally, you will train and mentor new staff and provide coverage during absences as needed. You will spend part of your time participating in statewide, OJD-wide, and local committee meetings, during which you will recommend improvements to court processes and procedures and act as a local OJD liaison. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four (4) years of responsible administrative experience in a moderately complex office or business setting demonstrating the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for the position.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative tasks in a business or professional environment.
  • Experience using a computer and different software programs to accomplish a variety of tasks that involve data entry, looking up accounts or cases, scheduling events in electronic calendars, and updating information.
  • Experience providing customer service to a variety of individuals in challenging circumstances.
  • Skill in writing and reviewing documents for accuracy, completeness, and grammar.
  • Experience explaining processes, procedures, or policies.
  • Experience working with community partners.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
