About The Position

The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) is seeking a Court Designated Worker (CDW) for Hardin County. This role provides essential intake, assessment, diversion, referral, and case management services for youth and families within Kentucky's juvenile justice system. The CDW collaborates with various stakeholders including courts, schools, law enforcement, and community partners to assess issues, implement interventions, connect families with necessary resources, and ensure compliance with diversion agreements. The position is crucial in promoting early intervention, fostering family engagement, and utilizing community-based solutions to enhance outcomes for young people and minimize unnecessary court involvement.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a job-related field, such as human services, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
  • One (1) year of job-related experience, to include working with youth and families, human services, criminal justice, and, or, the juvenile justice system.
  • Must have driver’s license and dependable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) additional years of job-related work experience may substitute for the associate degree.

Responsibilities

  • Processing all juvenile intakes, including entering new referrals and generating complaints.
  • Conducting interviews and completing risk and needs screenings.
  • Determining eligibility for diversion and developing appropriate intervention strategies.
  • Developing diversion agreements and monitoring compliance with program requirements.
  • Providing case management services and coordinating referrals to community resources and treatment providers.
  • Maintaining accurate case records and documentation in accordance with statutes, policies, and procedures.
  • Preparing reports, recommendations, and other required court documents.
  • Communicating and collaborating with courts, schools, law enforcement, service providers, and families.
  • Responding to inquiries and providing information regarding juvenile justice processes and available services.
  • Participating in on-call coverage.
  • Traveling within the assigned service area and occasionally statewide to conduct meetings, attend court proceedings, participate in trainings, and support program operations.
  • Supporting early intervention efforts designed to reduce juvenile court involvement and improve outcomes for youth and families.
  • Attending required training and maintaining knowledge of applicable laws, policies, and best practices.
  • Promoting positive relationships with youth, families, and community partners while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
