About The Position

We are seeking Court Certified Interpreters to provide accurate and professional interpretation services during legal proceedings, including courtroom trials, depositions, client-attorney meetings, hearings, and other legal events. The ideal candidate is fluent in English and at least one other language, possesses a valid court interpreter certification, and demonstrates strong ethics, confidentiality, and impartiality.

Requirements

Must hold a valid state or federal court interpreter certification (e.g., Consortium/NCSC, NAJIT, or equivalent).
Native or near-native fluency in English and the target language.
Minimum of 2 years of interpreting experience in legal settings preferred.
Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
Strong memory, note-taking skills, and ability to interpret in consecutive and simultaneous modes.
Professional demeanor, cultural competency, and excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Federal Court Interpreter Certification (if applicable).
Additional credentials (e.g., ATA, RID for ASL, or state registry listings).
Experience with remote interpretation platforms (Zoom, VRI/OPI tools).

Responsibilities

Interpret spoken communication between individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and English-speaking court personnel, attorneys, judges, and other stakeholders.
Maintain strict confidentiality and remain neutral during interpretation.
Accurately convey meaning without additions, omissions, or alterations in interpretation.
Adhere to the Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibilities for court interpreters.
Prepare for interpreting assignments by reviewing legal terminology, case files, and court procedures when applicable.
Provide sight translation of written legal documents as required.
Maintain timely arrival to assignments and manage scheduling commitments professionally.
Document completed interpretation sessions and submit required reports or timekeeping records.
