About The Position

GD Resources LLC is seeking qualified Onsite Spanish Interpreter/Translators to provide professional interpretation and translation services at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners (USMCFP) in Springfield, Missouri. The role supports multiple institutional departments and requires a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural competence in a correctional healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Fluency in Spanish and English (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated experience providing medical and/or legal interpretation services
  • Knowledge of medical and legal terminology sufficient to provide accurate interpretation
  • Ability to remain professional and composed in a secure correctional environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must successfully complete required background checks and institutional clearance
  • Must attend a four (4) hour institutional orientation prior to beginning services
  • Must attend two (2) hour refresher training for each option year
  • Strict compliance with contraband regulations (18 USC 1791)
  • No weapons, drugs, alcohol, or prohibited items permitted on institution property
  • Professional attire appropriate for a correctional medical environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a hospital, clinical, correctional, or institutional setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite Spanish interpretation between staff, contractors, and Adult In Custody (AIC) patients
  • Perform written translation of medical, legal, and administrative documents as requested
  • Support departments including Medical, Legal, Case Management, Mental Health, Medical Records, and Nursing
  • Ensure accurate interpretation of medical and legal terminology
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with the Privacy Act of 1974
  • Adhere to all Bureau of Prisons (BOP) institutional rules, security procedures, and conduct standards
  • Report any observed infractions of institutional rules by AICs to the appropriate correctional supervisor
  • Sign in and out of the institution daily and wear issued identification at all times
  • Attend required security orientation and annual refresher training
