About The Position

The Court Administration Lead provides leadership in the Criminal Department by supervising staff in Initial Appearance Court that provide case processing, case flow management and judicial/administrative support. Intake Transfer Release (ITR) Facility, IA Court is located at: 2670 S. 28th Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85009. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible legal, court, or justice system support related experience OR Combined Education And Experience Qualifications: An equivalent combination of post-secondary education or job-related experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
  • Knowledge Of: State Constitution of Arizona, Arizona Criminal Court rules, policies and procedures.
  • Legal terminology and the legal requirements of processing court documents.
  • Customer service standards and practices.
  • Skill In: The use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership and coordinating the work of subordinates.
  • Ability To: Multitask and cope with high volume.
  • Work in a time-critical work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual skills in Spanish/English
  • Experience in a legal/court environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Trains and oversees work of other court staff.
  • Oversees a function or program within the scope of the appropriate court setting.
  • Assists with the hiring of staff.
  • May supervise a small group or perform supervisory functions in absence of supervisor.
  • Assists other staff in problem resolution and facilitates training in court operations.
  • Answers difficult questions concerning departmental policies.
  • Investigates and responds to complex public complaints and requests for information or service in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Updates database information.
  • Prepares detailed statistical reports.
  • Arranges for interpreters.
  • Reviews case documents for completeness; contacts interested parties for missing information.
  • Prepares information for Judges or Commissioners review prior to hearings.
  • Prepares courtroom, gathers all parties for hearings, directs when cases will proceed to the courtroom and manages calendar flow.
  • Prepares and designs management information reports.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding court cases.
  • Answers questions from public and other agencies.
  • Processes high volume of Search Warrants and Search Warrant Returns.
  • Providing regular onsite or in-person supervision to assess business needs by observation, by monitoring group dynamics with face-to-face interaction and through the use of body language/nonverbal communication, engaging in interpersonal bonding, and modeling expected behaviors.
