About The Position

This position is for a Course Lecturer for URBP 640, Introduction to Planning Statistics. The course will be taught via 2-hour lectures and 3-hour lab sessions. The instructor will give the lectures, and a teaching assistant will give the lab sessions under the instructor's supervision. The course is a 1-credit course. Topics include descriptive and inferential statistics, sampling, chi-square, t-tests, ANOVA, correlation, bivariate regression, statistical significance, standard error, confidence intervals, parametric and non-parametric statistical tests, statistical diagnostics, outlier detection and removal, and normality.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with applied statistical analysis in urban planning and policy research, including via peer-reviewed journal articles.
  • Expertise in the R statistical programming language.
  • Successful previous completion of URBP bivariate and multivariate statistics courses or equivalent.
  • Authorized to work in Canada.
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based/located.
  • English communication skills (verbally and in writing).

  • PhD completed or in progress preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 2-hour lectures for URBP 640.
