About The Position

The Course Designer / Media Technologist / Quality Matters Certified position for the BJ Moore Center for Faculty Innovation primarily supports faculty and staff in the development, design, delivery, and evaluation of technology-enhanced, hybrid, online and traditional courses. This position also serves as a consultant and coach providing relevant training in pedagogical strategies, teaching and learning assessments, Learning Management System (LMS) tools, and various instructional technologies to enhance the academic enterprise. The qualified individual will provide multimedia support for instruction through knowledge and skill in audio, video, and instructional technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in educational technology, education, or related field of study.
  • Higher education instructional experience.
  • Production experience in print, video, and digital media
  • Experience teaching and or developing online courses/post-secondary teaching experience in both online and traditional learning environments.
  • Faculty development training experience.
  • Certification in Canvas, Quality Matters, etc.
  • Software proficiency working with various applications to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems like the Canvas and Blackboard course management systems.
  • Ability to post and manage multimedia on social media sites (YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Knowledge of streaming media solutions for higher education.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (emphasis in Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Acrobat Pro), Canva, Video Conferencing (Zoom, Panopto), VR/AR/Gamification software, and various Apple technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of educational technology experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree and 5 years of educational technology experience.
  • Professional experience in an education setting is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, delivers and implements programs, courses, resources, and services to develop faculty in the Essential Competencies of a B-CU Educator.
  • Designs, delivers and implements programs, resources and services to support faculty in the development of course and program curriculum in face-to-face, hybrid and online instructional modalities.
  • Works collaboratively to achieve established goals and outcomes for the Faculty & Instructional Development team.
  • Provides consultation and development for faculty in the design of course/program curricula and pedagogies in all instructional modalities according to established best practices, including learning outcomes, curriculum alignment, learning-centered teaching strategies and assessment.
  • Provides consultation and development for faculty in the selection and effective use of digital technologies, in all instructional modalities, according to established best practices.
  • Provides consultation for faculty in the design of individualized development plans aligned with the Essential Competencies of a B-CU Educator.
  • Effectively manages multiple course development projects from inception to completion, in accordance with established instructional design and curriculum development processes.
  • Designs and supervises production of learning resources in variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video and animation technologies to support curriculum development and learning-centered course design.
  • Supports academic departments in the exploration and development of innovative teaching and learning strategies and materials.
  • Researches, articulates, and disseminates innovative best practices in faculty development, teaching, learning and technology, in all instructional modalities.
  • Develops and implements ongoing program assessment, to understand the program’s strengths and weaknesses and to establish a model of evidence-based program improvement.
  • Supports faculty in the continuing contract award process in conjunction with the Teaching/Learning Academy team.
  • Supports college-wide committees in issues related to teaching, learning and technology.
  • Assists faculty and staff in the development and improvement of course/program curriculum, learning outcomes and assessment activities in collaboration with, faculty, Academic Affairs and other college-wide colleagues.
  • Responsible for supervising, developing and evaluating assigned staff, as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
