The Courier is responsible for making deliveries to specific departments, facilities, drop-sites, offices, or persons, and picking up items from designated locations for immediate, next day, or future delivery. This role requires maintaining a courteous flow of communication with phlebotomists, nurses, and customers, and adhering to strict confidentiality regarding patient information outside the Laboratory. The position also involves additional duties such as scanning, centrifuging, and data entry, along with a strong understanding of specimen preservation and handling, including non-blood specimens. The Courier is expected to continuously improve operations, decrease turnaround time, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service. They should suggest improvements to their supervisor and communicate any schedule changes. Responsiveness to requests for information, care, or service in a timely and polite manner is essential, as is representing the organization positively in all interactions. Adherence to dress code, proper identification, and reporting of accidents/injuries are also key responsibilities. The role demands maintaining personal behavior consistent with a clean, quiet, and respectful environment and following work attendance policies with consistent punctuality.
