About The Position

At Pathology Group of Louisiana, our mission is to provide the finest quality pathology services to patients, referring physicians, outpatient surgery centers, and hospitals with the greatest accuracy in the most cost-effective manner as rapidly as possible. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Courier Department and its staff. The Courier Supervisor serves as a liaison for client issues regarding courier specimens and supplies. The ideal candidate must have the ability to make sound decisions under stress and to communicate effectively. This role offers support to coworkers in a team-oriented environment and supports the goals of the department and of all clients. The Courier Supervisor communicates effectively, upholds all safety, HIPAA and compliance regulations and policies in place, and provides assistance in other duties as required or requested by the pathologists, other managers and/or the administrator.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of courier/logistics experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Good judgment, communication and operational skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Adjust daily operations and personnel as needed.
  • Approve time off and schedule requests and modify courier's routes to accommodate vacation, sick and unscheduled time off.
  • Ensures appropriate training of all employees.
  • Manages hiring and interviewing of staff with the HR Manager.
  • Periodically evaluate Courier routes and checks DMV records online.
  • Sets-up and assigns Exxon and E-Courier user information and pin numbers.
  • Reviews reconcile and approve all dept.-related invoices before giving to Accounting.
  • Handles any issue with Courier phones/tablets and purchase new units as needed.
  • Research and purchase any inventory such as courier apparel, insulated coolers and dollies.
  • Research and resolve any client complaints regarding courier's service along with the PGL Marketing/Business Development Representative.
  • Keep couriers and dispatchers and Administrator informed of current route and departmental issues.
  • Responsible for scheduling and approving all routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Renewals for vehicle registration as needed.
  • Maintains and update Fleetmatics GPS system.
  • Handle and reports all courier related accidents and incidents, following up on all paperwork and claims for Auto Insurance company, Compliance, WC and HR/Controller as needed.
  • Back-up Dispatcher and Couriers as needed.
  • Maintains the E-Courier System.
  • Monitors and evaluates employee performance, reporting issues to the Administrator.
  • Reviews and approves scheduled and unscheduled time with review by Administrator as needed.
