The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS is seeking applicants for the position of County Director 5, Child Welfare Services. This position is located in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND five (5) years of experience which includes three (3) years of management of subordinate managers/supervisors in a human service delivery program.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND three (3) years of experience at the lower level (County Director 4) or position equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) or more years supervising supervisors & lower-level managers experience with DFCS or comparable child welfare agency managing Child Protective Services (CPS), Foster Care and/or Adoptions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees Child Welfare Services and administrative operations of a Class 5 County DFCS office.
  • Leads the administration of policies and programs designed to protect and protect children and families.
  • Ensures mandated services with priority of child safety and service provision to children and families.
  • Provides leadership to subordinate managers and staff.
  • Direct subordinate managers and staff.
  • Analyzes and assesses the effectiveness of existing programs to ensure the identified outcome measures are achieved.
  • Assures agency compliance with policies, appropriate documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Builds and encourages a cooperative team-oriented environment within unit(s) and with other agencies and providers.
  • Creates and maintains positive working relationships within the community and on the county DFCS Board.
  • Develops and administers budgets.
  • Facilitates communication within the units(s)/ agency on a specific case level as well as on a procedure/ policy level.
  • Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges social services employees.
  • Leads and administers a comprehensive system of public assistance, employability, and social services.
  • Manages human resources and directs administrative activities for groups of social services employees.
  • Plans, administers, and maintains the operation of social services programs.
  • Reviews new and current programs to determine their efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with state, local and federal regulations.
