About The Position

This classification level works under general supervision and is responsible for spending a majority of time in the courtroom and providing courtroom related work such as capturing and recording verbatim proceedings of court and maintaining case information during and after proceedings. Responsibilities may include preparing documents for each court session (e.g. label exhibits, prepare journal entries); recording proceedings; schedule further court hearings.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; and 2 years of courtroom clerk experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
  • Must be able to accurately type court proceedings, and may be required to take a typing test during the interview process.
  • Knowledge of Customer service principles.
  • Knowledge of Computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of Criminal coding concepts.
  • Knowledge of Federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Office procedures, methods, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Data entry techniques.
  • Skills in Providing customer service.
  • Skills in Maintaining records.
  • Skills in Performing data entry.
  • Skills in Operating standard office equipment.
  • Skills in Using computers and related software applications.
  • Skills in Reviewing reports for accuracy.
  • Skills in Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors on-going case files, which includes: identifying appropriate forms to be completed or received; monitoring case status; issuing and processing warrants and civil suspensions; tracking and maintaining files; and/or, performing other related activities.
  • Processes and prepares casework for court sessions; notates court actions on applicable documents and forms; and/or, performs other related activities.
  • Maintains court calendar; schedules interpreters, transportation, prosecutors, defense council, and/or events.
  • Performs routine administrative support duties, which include: scheduling court hearing meetings; labelling exhibits, preparing journal entries and preparing other standard documents for court session.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
