About The Position

Requirements

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

  • You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 1 day per week after 6 months of employment.
  • In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

  • Gather information from clients and families to identify social, emotional, economic, and health needs
  • Provide counseling and direct assistance to improve client adjustment and stability
  • Deliver safety-focused services for children and adults who face harmful or unsafe situations
  • Take part in meetings and review plans to ensure families receive the right support over time
  • Identify community resources and link clients to appropriate services while advocating for their needs
  • Prepare reports, documents, and case histories according to agency policies
