About The Position

Lycoming County Children and Youth Services is hiring a County Caseworker 2 to help families work toward stability and connect them with community supports. The role supports safer environments for children and caregivers through referral assessments, safety evaluations, service coordination, and short-term casework. The position is full-time, with work hours of 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and is located in the Williamsport School District. Telework is not available.

Requirements

• Meet one of the stated minimum experience and training pathways: six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; a bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 12 college credits in specified or related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or an equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in specified or related social sciences.
• Be able to perform the essential job functions.
• Submit criminal history reports following a conditional offer of employment.
• Complete a drug screening following a conditional offer of employment.
• Provide relevant, detailed experience and education on the application; applicants claiming education must attach college transcripts. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
• Submit the application by the posting closing date.

Responsibilities

• Review referrals and requests to determine service needs.
• Conduct interviews to evaluate child safety and well-being.
• Identify risks and take protective action when safety cannot be maintained.
• Develop plans, provide referrals, and maintain accurate case documentation.
• Work with families and community partners to support child welfare goals.
