County Caseworker 1 (Local Government) - Intake - Wayne County C&Y
About The Position
This position focuses on helping individuals and families improve their social, emotional, and physical functioning through structured training and guided casework responsibilities. Work is performed with close supervision as skills develop. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties: Client Interviews: Conduct interviews to gather social histories and assess needs Eligibility Review: Determine and verify eligibility for services Support Services: Provide referrals, program information, and supportive counseling Case Documentation: Maintain an active caseload and ensure accurate records Service Coordination: Assist in arranging supportive and protective services for at-risk children Report Preparation: Prepare reports, correspondence, and attend court proceedings as assigned.
Requirements
- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
- A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions
- Must be able to perform essential job functions
- Pass a background investigation
- Pass a drug screening
- Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance

- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
