As a County Caseworker 1 with the Department of Human Services, Monroe County Children & Youth, you will help families access vital support and work through important life challenges. This position gives you the chance to strengthen the well-being of children throughout Monroe County. Your efforts will create safer environments and encourage long-term growth for families in need. Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
  • Must pass a background investigation
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance

  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews to identify needs and barriers affecting child and family well-being
  • Provide information about agency programs and determine eligibility for support services
  • Assist families in creating plans that promote healthy changes and safer environments
  • Work with local agencies to support services for vulnerable children and families
  • Keep reports, records and case histories accurate, organized and up to date
  • Assist in providing protective services for children in unsafe or harmful situations
