About The Position

This position focuses on learning and performing entry-level casework through training and guided experience. The work supports children and families by helping them access services and improve daily functioning. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties: Client Interviews: Gather information, assess needs, and verify eligibility for services Support Planning: Help families create plans to strengthen social and emotional functioning Case Documentation: Maintain records, prepare reports, and organize case information Coordination Efforts: Arrange supportive and protective services for children and families Communication Skills: Provide referrals, counseling, and clear information to clients Training Participation: Engage in staff development activities to build casework abilities

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
  • Pass a background investigation
  • Conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening
  • Must pass satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance

  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
