About The Position

BBVA is seeking a Mid-Level to Senior Counterparty Credit Analyst for the Financial Institutions Group in NY, specializing in Insurance Companies. This role may also encompass Non-Bank Financial Institutions, Broker-Dealers, Investment Managers, Fund Families, Hedge and Mutual Funds, Financial Sponsors, and others. The position involves financial institutions credit analysis for U.S. Insurance Companies, including Holding Companies, Operating Companies, SPVs, and entire organizations. A strong understanding of specialty lending and structures from SPVs, such as FABLs, FABNs, and SideCar facilities, is required. The role includes monitoring counterparty risk and settlement for trading via the NY Branch (Bank) and BSI (U.S. Broker-Dealer), coordinating approvals for Global Trade Finance (SBLC, SLC) bookings in NY, and managing counterparty credit limit approvals for onboarding new counterparties in NY. Familiarity with ISDA/CSA/CDEA/GMRA documentation, negotiations, and monitoring for Financial Institutions is essential. The position also requires an understanding of products including Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, DVP trading, Repo trading, Structured Finance, SBLC, and Capital Call Facilities. The analyst will be responsible for providing timely and accurate reports on monitoring and trading activity, maintaining credit files for accuracy and audit readiness, and managing oneself in a high-stress environment with occasional tight deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics or related field
  • At least seven years (5-7) of Finance, Credit Risk, or Underwriting, Loan Review experience.
  • Understanding of all specialty lending and structures from SPVs including FABLs, FABNs, and SideCar facilities.
  • Counterparty Risk and Settlement monitoring for trading via NY Branch (Bank) and BSI (U.S. Broker-Dealer)
  • Coordination of approvals for Global Trade Finance (SBLC, SLC) bookings in NY
  • Counterparty Credit Limit approvals for Onboarding of Counterparties in NY
  • Knowledge of ISDA / CSA / CDEA / GMRA documentation, negotiations and monitoring for Financial Institutions
  • Understanding of products that include Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, DVP trading, Repo trading, Structured Finance, SBLC and Capital Call Facilities
  • Provide timely and accurate reports when needed to follow-up on monitoring and results for trading activity and limit requests
  • Ability to maintain credit files and folders to make sure everything is accurate to field internal audits and credit quality control
  • Ability to handle oneself in potentially high stress environment with occasion crunch time deadlines
  • Employment eligibility to work with BBVA in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the risk quality and credit process as established in the monitoring & follow up policy.
  • Provides data to prepare reports with trends and ratios of risk metrics.
  • Analyze quality risk indicators (trends, variations, problems) to minimize losses (less complex analysis).
  • Provide timely and accurate reports to the Monitoring & Follow up Committee, Board, Spain, etc to allow them to make decisions regarding credit quality and ratings.
