About The Position

Sid Harvey’s, an HVAC wholesale distributor of heating, cooling, and refrigeration equipment and products, is seeking a full-time HVAC Counter Sales associate for its Dover, DE location. This role provides excellent customer service by assisting customers promptly and courteously with their purchases and efficient processing of their orders. The associate will answer questions, provide information, and generate sales through excellent customer service, add-on sales, and up-selling. All job responsibilities must be performed in a safe, timely, and efficient manner, representing Sid Harvey’s professionally.

Requirements

• Regularly required to stand; walk; carry and/or reach.
• Regularly required to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Occasionally required to lift up to 100 lbs.
• Regularly required to talk or hear; read and identify numbers for accurate order filling and receiving of material, payment processing, etc.
• Apply sound reasoning and logic in performing daily tasks.
• Able to safely operate a forklift and/or pallet jack.
• Must be able to pass a drug test.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrate knowledge of Sid Harvey products (i.e. Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Heating) to meet customer’s needs.
• Continuously update product knowledge through any available resources. Stay informed and educated as to product inventory and applicability. Know location of merchandise in warehouse.
• Assist in maintaining appearance of branch as needed, straightening, cleaning counter area, warehouse, bathrooms, etc.
• Assist in year-end physical inventories as requested.

Responsibilities

• Promptly assist customers at the counter, asking pertinent questions, providing information, taking orders, and ensuring excellent customer service.
• Conduct oneself in a professional and ethical manner at all times, treating external and internal customers and associates with courtesy and respect.
• Effectively promote MITCO and Sid Harvey Manufactured and Remanufactured products as selling tools towards customer up-selling.
• Perform data entry and retrieval on the computer system, including entering customer orders, branch transfers, obtaining quotation information, inventory information, and pricing.
• Follow up on customer orders, resolve problems to the customer’s satisfaction, and respond timely to customers. Notify the Branch Manager of any missed opportunities, such as requests for merchandise not stocked or out-of-stock items.
• Answer telephones professionally and pleasantly, assisting customers, taking orders, and providing excellent customer service.
• Provide product/job quotes as appropriate.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Sid Harvey products (Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating) to meet customer needs.
• Continuously update product knowledge through available resources, staying informed about product inventory and applicability. Know the location of merchandise in the warehouse.
• Effectively communicate relevant policies and/or procedures regarding purchases, returns, credit terms, etc., to customers.
• Assist in maintaining the appearance of the branch as needed, including straightening and cleaning the counter area, warehouse, and bathrooms.
• Report back orders and material discrepancies.
• Accurately perform cycle counts as required.
• Perform all duties in a safe manner, following all safety rules, and inform the manager of any potentially hazardous conditions.
• Assist in year-end physical inventories as requested.
• Perform other responsibilities as directed.
