About The Position

Connor Co. is seeking a career-minded individual for a long-term Counter Sales position in Urbana, IL. This role involves entering sales orders, merchandising products, assisting customers with selections, and managing warehouse operations including loading/unloading trucks, processing inbound materials, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and be able to work independently under deadlines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required, or its equivalent
  • Critical thinker using logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions
  • Mathematical reasoning ability to choose the suitable method or formulas to solve a problem
  • Ability to learn Eclipse software
  • Must be very detail-oriented and focused for accuracy
  • Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Must maintain a patient and professional attitude while managing a busy workload
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Must be able to determine and prioritize workload
  • Ability to read directions and use a street map to plot delivery route
  • Available from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of HVAC and plumbing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enter sales orders into the Eclipse system and pick customer order tickets.
  • Merchandise and stock products on displays and in self-service areas.
  • Select the correct products or assist customers in making product selections.
  • Emphasize product features based on customers' needs and technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations.
  • Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, and credit terms.
  • Efficient and effective loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Inspect materials according to instructions and report damaged goods.
  • Process inbound materials to the warehouse.
  • Compare quantities shown on packing slip or manifests with actual items received.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Ensure materials are placed in the designated areas within the warehouse.
  • Stack skids or pallets in designated areas.
  • Clean up and dispose of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping and place in proper containers or designated areas.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping racks, shelves, pallet area, workstations, and counter area neat; maintaining clean shipping supply area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • General housekeeping: sweeping, mopping, dusting, empty trash.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
