About The Position

Sid Harvey's, an HVAC wholesale distributor of heating, cooling, and refrigeration equipment and products, is seeking a full-time HVAC Counter Sales and Warehouse position for its Elmsford, NY Location. This role provides excellent customer service by assisting customers promptly and courteously with their purchases and efficient processing of their orders. The position involves answering questions, providing information, and generating sales through excellent customer service, add-on, and up-selling. All job responsibilities must be performed in a safe, timely, and efficient manner while representing Sid Harvey's professionally.

Requirements

• Ability to stand; walk; carry and/or reach.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to talk or hear.
• Ability to read and identify numbers for accurate order filling and receiving of material, payment processing, etc.
• Ability to apply sound reasoning and logic in performing daily tasks.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift and/or pallet jack.
• Must be able to pass a drug test.

• Maintain appropriate licensing, credentials and acceptable driving record (for backup delivery driver role).

Responsibilities

• Promptly assist customers at counter, ask pertinent questions, provide information, take orders, and provide excellent customer service.
• Conduct self in a professional and ethical manner at all times, treating external and internal customers and associates with courtesy and respect.
• Effectively promote MITCO and Sid Harvey Manufactured and Remanufactured products as selling tools towards customer up-selling.
• Perform data entry and retrieval on computer system, including entering customer orders, branch transfers, obtaining quotation information, inventory information, and pricing.
• Follow-up on customer orders, resolve problems to the customer’s satisfaction, and respond timely to customers. Notify Branch Manager of any missed opportunities (e.g., merchandise not stocked or out-of-stock).
• Answer telephones professionally and pleasantly, assisting customers, taking orders, and providing excellent customer service.
• Provide product/job quotes as appropriate.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Sid Harvey products (Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating) to meet customer needs.
• Continuously update product knowledge through available resources, staying informed and educated on product inventory and applicability. Know the location of merchandise in the warehouse.
• Effectively communicate relevant policies and/or procedures regarding purchases, returns, credit terms, etc., to customers.
• Assist in maintaining the appearance of the branch as needed, including straightening and cleaning the counter area, warehouse, and bathrooms.
• Report back orders and/or material discrepancies to the Branch Manager.
• Accurately perform cycle counts as required.
• Perform all duties in a safe manner, following all safety rules, and inform the manager of any potentially hazardous conditions.
• Assist in year-end physical inventories as requested.
• Perform other responsibilities as directed.
• Accurately fill customer orders by retrieving requested material.
• Accurately and safely load & unload trucks as needed.
• Check in and put away material, verifying quantities and quality of received material. Maintain clear aisles and walkways and ensure material is properly organized.
• Perform as backup to the delivery driver as needed, driving a company vehicle to make customer deliveries and stock pick-ups, obeying traffic laws and safety procedures. Maintain appropriate licensing, credentials, and an acceptable driving record.
• Perform vehicle and/or forklift inspections as required.
