About The Position

At Four Corners Building Supply, we are looking for individuals who are eager to bring their energy, work ethic, and passion for customer service to help grow our rapidly expanding business. We are seeking a motivated Counter Sales / Yard Counter Associate to join our team in a fast-paced lumber yard and building supply environment. This role combines inside counter sales, customer service, warehouse support, and hands-on assistance with loading and unloading materials. This position is well-suited for individuals who are early in their career and interested in gaining hands-on experience in the building materials, sales, or construction supply industry. It is also part of our internal Sales Trainee Program, designed to provide structured learning and development for future growth opportunities within the company.

Requirements

• Basic computer skills including email, order entry systems, and inventory or POS systems
• Demonstrated ability to provide professional and consistent customer service
• Strong desire to learn and grow within a sales and operations environment
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to listen, understand customer needs, and provide solutions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order processing and inventory handling
• Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50+ pounds
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and movement throughout the day
• Ability to work in both indoor showroom and outdoor yard environments with exposure to weather conditions
• Ability to safely operate or learn to operate a forklift and other yard equipment

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in customer service, sales, warehouse, construction supply, or material handling environments is helpful but not required
• Familiarity with forklifts or willingness to obtain certification

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for walk-in customers and visitors in a lumber yard setting
• Assist customers with loading and unloading materials using a forklift and other equipment as needed
• Promptly answer phone calls in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner
• Manage all counter activities including inbound calls, emails, and customer follow-ups
• Take purchase orders via phone, in-person, or email and accurately enter them into the system
• Utilize computer systems for order entry, inventory look-up, pricing, and customer account management
• Assist in inventory control and organization in showroom and warehouse areas
• Collaborate closely with warehouse and yard teams to ensure timely and accurate customer service
• Safely operate a forklift in a busy lumber yard environment
• Ensure materials are properly staged and prepared for customer pickup
• Identify and forward sales opportunities to the appropriate sales team for follow-up and closing
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in both inside and outside areas
• Perform other duties as assigned
