About The Position

Ferguson is seeking a knowledgeable, results-driven Counter Sales Associate to serve plumbing and HVAC contractor customers. The role involves providing product expertise and problem-solving support so customers can make informed purchasing decisions, while contributing to sales strategy, relationship-building, and exceptional customer service. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime as needed. Starting pay is $20 or more, depending on experience.

Requirements

• 0–3 years of experience in customer service or sales.
• A sales mindset and ability to meet goals, build relationships, and influence purchasing decisions.
• Strong communication skills for consultative selling and customer engagement.
• Self-motivation and a results-oriented approach, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Digital literacy and ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers proactively at the counter, by phone, and via email to understand their needs and recommend solutions.
• Build and apply knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, and related products to guide customer decisions.
• Drive sales growth by identifying opportunities to upsell, cross-sell, and promote strategic products and programs.
• Use catalogs, computer systems, and manufacturer databases to locate parts and provide accurate, timely information.
• Process transactions efficiently and accurately while providing a positive customer experience.
• Collaborate with Outside Sales Associates to support account growth and provide seamless service.
• Manage special orders and follow up on order status, back-orders, and delivery timelines.
• Maintain a professional, organized counter environment.
• Assist with inventory management, cycle counts, and stock organization.
• Follow safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
