About The Position

It is part of Duke Health, a world-class academic medical center. The Counselor position is located in the Duke Wilmington Office, specifically within the Partners in Caring office in Wilmington, NC. This role is responsible for establishing, coordinating, and developing housing assistance services for eligible persons, including those living with HIV/AIDS. The candidate will build relationships with landlords and the local housing community, maintain housing information for specific counties (Warren, Granville, Lee, and Vance), and assess the housing needs of participants. The position involves assisting with referrals to affordable housing resources, locating appropriate housing units, and working with property owners and case managers to secure these units. Key activities include homelessness prevention and other housing-related support. The role requires HOPWA oversight training and understanding the value of work, along with specific experience in a HOPWA program.

Responsibilities

  • Establishment, coordination, and development of housing assistance services for eligible persons.
  • Develop and build relationships with landlords and the local housing community.
  • Establish and maintain housing information for persons in Warren, Granville, Lee, and Vance counties.
  • Complete and process assessments for persons living with HIV/AIDS with housing needs.
  • Identify the housing needs of eligible participants in the network service area.
  • Assist with referrals to affordable housing resources.
  • Assist in locating available, affordable, and appropriate housing units.
  • Work with property owners and case managers to secure units for participants.
  • Engage in homelessness prevention and other housing-related activities.
