Our Altoona Outpatient program provides a supportive, therapeutic environment where clients can build strength, develop skills, and reclaim overall health and well‑being. We are currently seeking a full‑time Outpatient Counselor to join our dedicated outpatient clinical team. The Counselor plays a key role in delivering individual therapy, group therapy, process groups, and family therapy within our outpatient program. This position also supports daily clinical operations, intake processes, and documentation requirements to ensure the highest level of client care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field OR Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant clinical experience OR Active CADC or CAADC or Equivalent Licensure
  • Candidates selected for hire must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and any required state‑mandated clearances. Employment is contingent upon meeting all screening requirements in accordance with federal, state, and accrediting‑body regulations.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA, state licensing regulations, and CARF standards

Responsibilities

  • Support daily clinical operations, including assessments, utilization review, and therapeutic services.
  • Provide individual counseling, group therapy, and family therapy to clients engaged in outpatient treatment.
  • Conduct client intake assessments and assist in developing individualized treatment plans.
  • Complete insurance and utilization reviews as needed.
  • Attend shift‑change meetings, supervision, and required company meetings.
  • Maintain a caseload and ensure all client documentation is accurate and timely.
  • Assist the Program Director with program coverage and service needs.
  • Perform clerical duties related to maintaining compliant and organized client files.
  • Actively listen to clients and support them in all aspects of their treatment.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment, including crisis intervention when appropriate.
  • Complete all required trainings and maintain mandatory continuing education hours.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
