About The Position

Roxbury Treatment Center is recruiting a full-time Counselor for its Substance Use Disorder Unit. The Counselor assesses patients’ drug and alcohol histories, establishes treatment goals, and provides therapeutic and educational services consistent with the facility’s philosophy and objectives. The position is scheduled for day shift, either Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday.

Roxbury Treatment Center is a 112-bed behavioral healthcare facility in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Its services include acute adult and adolescent psychiatric care and a chemical dependency unit where adults undergo detoxification under close medical supervision.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or above from an accredited college in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing with a clinical specialty in human services, or another related field, including a practicum in a health or human service agency. A drug and alcohol setting is preferred; if the practicum was not in such a setting, the written training plan must address achieving counseling competency in chemical dependency issues.
• Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a specified or related field and one year of clinical experience (at least 1,820 hours) in a health or human service agency. A drug and alcohol setting is preferred; if experience was not in such a setting, the written training plan must address achieving counseling competency in chemical dependency issues.
• Alternatively, current Pennsylvania registered nurse licensure, a degree from an accredited school of nursing, and one year of counseling experience (at least 1,820 hours) in a health or human service agency. A drug and alcohol setting is preferred; if experience was not in such a setting, the written training plan must address achieving counseling competency in chemical dependency issues.
• Alternatively, full certification as an addictions counselor by a statewide certification body that is a member of a national certification body, or certification by another state government’s substance abuse counseling certification board.
