About The Position

The Counselor is responsible for the delivery and implementation of long term supervision, support, and clinical services to a population of chemically dependent adolescents with co-occurring and mental health problems.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience working with clients with substance abuse disorders.
  • 1 year of experience working with adolescents with co-occurring and mental health problems.

Nice To Haves

  • CASAC-T, CASAC, or higher preferred.
  • 1 year of experience working in an OASAS funded facility a plus.
  • Commitment to providing quality services and outcome driven performance measures.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, if needed.
  • Excellent organizational management skills with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance clinicians, set and achieve program objectives.
  • Strong networking and public relations skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders, populations, and cultures.
  • Action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to program planning.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

Responsibilities

  • Initial and ongoing screening of resident and resident property in accordance with unit procedure.
  • Supervise clients in self-medication (under supervision).
  • Complete assessments, intakes, and participates in level of care determined by gathering appropriate data, orienting client to his/her rights and responsibilities and program expectations.
  • Facilitate admission/referral to other programs or agencies for clients in need of services not offered at unit.
  • Provide individual, group, and/or family counseling services in a professional, ethical, and competent manner.
  • Manages all aspects of assigned caseload during treatment, with special attention to appropriate levels of care and appropriate clinical interventions.
  • Complete all needed documentation and reports in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with referents and other collateral contacts (i.e. Probation, Parole, CPS, managed care, E.A.P.’s, courts. Etc.) through timely written, phone, computerized, or other responses.
  • Maintain communication and teamwork with clinical staff to integrate and enhance clinical services.
  • Communicate all pertinent information, incidents, and emergencies using the appropriate system including the SAC communication long, incident reports, and/or elopement reports.
  • Provide overall supervision and management of client population in the facilitation of the daily house schedule.
  • Facilitate service groups.
  • Conduct toxicology testing, as needed.
  • Exercise due diligence in the delivery of quality care in line with the agency Medicaid Compliance Plan and systems of accountability.
  • Insure communication through the compliance officer and/or the supervisory structure of any violation of non-compliance with the agency’s Medicaid compliance plan and personnel policy and procedure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
